About The Care Line
The Christadelphian Caring Network of Canada has, as a sub group, individuals who are members of a Care Line.
Individuals who serve on the Care Line are trained in listening skills following a model set out in Gerard Egan’s “The Skilled Helper.” They use this resource as a basis for the development of a helping model. The model encourages identification of the problem, what the individual can do to change the situation and explore available resources that might help. Since the aim of the Care Line is to provide crisis support for the caller, it is helpful to have some background in the various issues which can impact a person. We meet on a regular basis not only to train in the model but we also have workshops focusing on issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, chronic pain, grief and a wide variety of other issues.
We often invite people to attend our training sessions / workshops and have recently begun to open up online training. This allows people who are interested but geographically removed to attend a session with us. Email us at training@caringnetwork.ca for login information.
